Happy New Year

So today is New Year's Eve. I plan on spending the evening with 2 of my most favorite people in the world. My husband and my son. My wonderful husband will be home from work around 8 p.m.. Little man will be in bed sometime around 10 p.m. At 3 I just don't think he's ready to ring in the New Year quite yet.
Happy New Year to all my friends and family that follow my blog.
Those of you who are going out tonight PLEASE be careful.

Amazing

More than 40 years after the incident, the state of Florida is talking about a posthumous pardon for Jim Morrison. Morrison, was convicted of indecent exposure, and sentenced to 6 months in jail according to this article. The incident happened March 1, 1969. Morrison died of a heart attack in Paris at the age of 27. Yesterday would have been his 67th birthday.

Had they had their ducks in a row they could have posthumously pardoned him on his birthday.

My 100th Post

I was hoping for something exciting to write about for my 100th post.

I got what I asked for, just not what I meant.

While out and about today I almost took out a 4 point buck in my car. Something told me to glance over my shoulder and check on Chase. Had I not I would have hit it head on, as it was I managed to miss it. Great news right???
About an hour later my husband asked me to go pick up lunch for him. No big deal right? That's what I thought as well. On my way back to the car lot from getting lunch, I was involved in a 3 car pileup. Luckily I managed to keep it from becoming a 5 car pileup.
A truck broke down in the middle of the road, and there was a lady stopped behind it. I slowed to a stop to try and merge with traffic in the other lane. The lady behind me, also stopped. The lady behind her not so much. She slammed into the lady behind me, who was pushed into me. Since I was on my brakes I managed to keep from being pushed into the car in front of me. The lady at fault admitted to not paying attention, and not noticing we were all stopped.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my guardian angels. If I ever doubted they were there I know I NEVER will again. Today could have been such a bad day, and thanks to some unseen presence Chase and I are both ok. Praise the Lord.

Hollywood Lost Another Great Today

Leslie Nielsen died today at the age of 84. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Hollywood definitely lost a great actor today. His movies were always good for a laugh.

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband

November 23, 2004 was the day I married my best friend. 6 years and still going strong. We have been through our share of good times, and bad times, through all of this we have remained united. We may fuss and argue sometimes, but neither of us would rather be anywhere else. We are in this together for the long run.

Jerry, I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone. Everyday we spend together makes me look forward to the next. I love you more every day. Thank you for being mine.

People

It has come to my attention that people apparently have some sort of "Sense of Entitlement" where other peoples lives are concerned.
One of my favorite bloggers is coming under fire because for some reason people think they are entitled to know every aspect of her life. To me this makes no sense. People blog because they want to. What they choose to share or not share is completely up to them
For some reason some of these "entitled" people have even started at least one blog that I have heard of, just to bash the original blogger.
My advice to the "entitled" people, if you do not agree with someone fine. DON'T read what that person writes. It's the internet for crying out loud. There is this really nifty feature on EVERY webpage a person goes to, it's that little box with an "x" in the top right corner.
Instead of starting drama, and bringing more readers to a blog you don't like, close the page, don't read it, don't go back, and for the love of everything holy don't comment.
My heart goes out to all of the people who are effected by nosy, mean spirited, busy bodies, who have nothing better to do with their lives than to try and bring someone else down to their level.
To my favorite blogger, if you read this, you know who you are. Please continue to do what you do!! I love your blog, and reading about your amazing family.

Time flies.............

Seems like it has been forever since I have taken the time to blog. Monday I start class again. I have definitely enjoyed the break. I know I needed it. Friday (November 19, 2010) we're going to the movie. The new Harry Potter movie opens on the 19th, and since we have been together we have seen them all opening night. This also works as an early anniversary present, since our anniversary happens to be the 23rd. Hard to believe my wonderful husband and I are celebrating 6 years happily married. Together 7, married 6.
December brings it's own list of fun things to do. Dewayne turns 15 on the 1st. Chase turns 3 on the 11th. Megan turns 18 on Christmas Day. Also, we are planning on making one of our famous road-trips. This insures we get to see everyone for Christmas.
As plans stand at the moment we will be leaving here on December 19, and will be home LATE the 25th. My wonderful husband is due back at work on the 27th.

Recommended reading for this post is: Patricia Cornwell. All of the books in her "Scarpetta" series are page turners. I am currently re-reading the series again. My husband is reading the latest book in the series.

Kids

Today was Chase's post-up checkup. I am pleased to say that even though he lost the button, the fact that the stitch stayed in means it did its job. The doctor says everything looks perfect, and he wants to see him again in 6 weeks. I am definitely happy to be just about done with it. I am extremely glad we had such great experiences with the surgeon, hospital, and nurses. For the most part everything was great.

Kids and surgery (Warning)

Yesterday (Wednesday) was a little long, what with surgery, and the general nastiness that followed. I ended up calling and talking to the on call Urologist last night. Not even 12 hours after surgery and his button came off. During the Orchiopexy a button is attached to the testicle to keep it weighed down until it heals.

After the surgery in January his button stayed on for a week, like it was supposed to. I knew the button was supposed to stay on, so when it came off I called. I found out that while it should stay longer then less than a day, 1 in 4 lose theirs before they should. Luckily the thread from the stitch is still there, so the outcome should be the same.

Today if a person did not know he had surgery they would never believe it. He has been his normal rambunctious self. I wish I would recover that fast from surgery. I love how kids can go through something like that and it never slow them down.

What next?

After being told for years to use the sleep positioners, now they are saying they are unsafe. These people really need to make up their minds. I never used any of the positioners for my kids, but I know people who have. Makes me wonder what's next. Every couple of years they decide something we have been doing as parents is unsafe, and things we were told years ago were unsafe are safe again. I'm glad I'm done having kids, this gets confusing. Click on the link to read the full story.

Surgery in the morning

We have to be at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. for Chase's surgery. I know he will be fine, however, my nerves are shot. There is nothing worse than the stress of knowing your child is having surgery. My heart goes out to the parents who deal with this on a regular basis. I have the benefit of knowing for the most part after tomorrow that he will never have to have surgery again. This is his second surgery in less than three years. I do not see how parents go through this all the time. I know they have no choice, but it has to be nerve wracking. Thanks for listening to me vent. I will update after surgery.

Rain! Again

Wow. We got rain two days in a row. I am so not used to that happening anymore. We all slept late this morning, then after a late breakfast we took the munchkin to the playground. As we were getting out of the car it started to kind of sprinkle. We let him play for almost an hour. By the time we left it was coming down pretty well. We got home, and he played outside for a bit longer, again in the rain. I love rain showers like that, there is nothing like playing in the rain. We finally came inside, and of course the silly rain quit. However, it still looked kind of nasty out.
Well it's now 11:15 p.m. and it's raining again. Has been for the last little while. I know we needed it, I'm just afraid it will cause flooding in places. It has been so dry here.
I have to call Tuesday to find out what time we have to be at the hospital Wednesday. If it goes like the last one did we will be home by lunchtime, and Chase will be ready to get up and play sometime that afternoon. After the last one the doctor told me "Make him rest this afternoon, don't let him do anything." Apparently that doctor has never had a 2 year old. We couldn't make him be still for anything. Even with the painkillers. I mistakenly assumed that narcotics would make a toddler sleepy, I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

So much for a 30% chance

Of rain that is. I would definitely say since it is pouring outside, and has been for almost 45 minutes our chance of rain for today has definitely been upgraded to 100%. Complete with thunder. There is nothing more soothing than listening to it rain. Especially when it is raining hard enough to be heard over the T.V. I will be so glad when my hubby gets home from work. It's nice knowing tomorrow is Sunday. I know even if he doesn't take another day off during the week he'll be off on Sunday.

This coming week I know he is taking a day off. Chase's surgery is on Wednesday. I am more than ready for it to be over and done with. There is no doubt in my mind that everything will be fine. The same surgeon is doing the same procedure that he had done in January, just on the opposite side. I'm still stressed and nervous about it though, because it is surgery, and he does have to be put to sleep for it.

Sounds like this store might get bad. I really hope we don't lose power. I have homework due tonight. Kind of hard to accomplish that with no power, or internet.

Today

Took the little guy to the playground for a while. It was fun, just really hot. Since he's off work tomorrow I think I'm going to make Daddy go with us. Should be a great time for all of us. I think we're going to cut the grass tomorrow as well, as long as the weather cooperates. Looks like it might be trying to storm this afternoon. No complaints out of me, there is nothing wrong with a good storm. Just as long as it doesn't get too bad.

Next time the dog seems to be barking at nothing I will look just a touch harder

Abbey (who has been known to bark at her own shadow) starting barking like mad a few minutes ago. I go look to see what is bothering her and there is nothing (so I think) there. I tell her to hush, and come back inside. Again she goes to barking like a crazy dog, so I go to investigate a bit more. As I step out the door, I look and ask myself, "Why is my dog barking at a rock?". I go look and my puppy has captured a turtle. I am just glad the turtle was in a decent mood, cause with the size of it's nails it could have done some serious damage. I picked it up, brought it inside, and showed Chase. Now the turtle is doing his own thing in the field behind the house.

More Change

First, I would like to apologize for my last post being posted twice. I have no idea why it happened, and I have no idea how to fix it. So I think I'm going to leave it there. I'm sure you have noticed the changes. I am still trying to find something that is me. I'll get there one of these days. Also, I have now connected my blog to Facebook. I think that will make it easier for family, and friends to keep up with the blog.

Change

As we have made the downward turn takes us ever closer to the beginning of October, I am beginning to notice the changes. Of course the first change that anyone living in the deep south notices is the temperatures. After a couple of months of going almost 24/7 now the air conditioner starts to get more of a break. While most afternoons are still hot, the mornings and evenings are pleasant, the nights are downright nice. I noticed a little while ago that in the breeze the trees are starting to lose leaves, just a couple at a time, for the moment.
While all these changes are taking place outside, changes are taking place inside as well. We are preparing for Chase's other surgery, which is a week from tomorrow. After he heals from surgery we are going to work full force on potty training. I would like to have that at least somewhat accomplished by Christmas. He turns 3 two weeks before Christmas, so that seems like a decent goal.
Also, to report a happy change. The promotion that was discussed with my wonderful husband on Friday, became effective today. He is now the manager of the dealership that he works for. I am so proud of him for all he has accomplished. I know how hard he works, nice to see they do appreciate it. I know this is something he has been toying with for a while, just wasn't real sure he wanted the headaches that go with management. However, with the way the former manager behaved. It was almost like hubby already had the job just not the title. Now it's official, and I couldn't be happier for him. I love you Jerry. I am so very proud of what you have done.

My awesome, amazing, absolutely wonderful husband

I know ya'll have heard me mention at least once (fifty times) the awesome man I married. After being together almost 7 years, married almost 6 those feelings are still just as strong now as they were in the beginning. This man is the missing puzzle piece that completes me. He is my soul-mate, best friend, lover, confidante, and everything else, all rolled into one incredible person. He has seen me at my best, and loved me at my worst. We have been through so much, and I look forward to seeing where the journey takes us. We have so many fond memories, I look forward to creating many more with this very special man that I am fortunate to call mine! I love you Jerry, more than I can possibly tell you!

Random thoughts.

Sitting here watching "Million Dollar Baby" with my husband. Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman are all superb in this movie. Definitely a tear-jerker, but sometimes those are the best ones. I have seen this movie more times than I can count. This is one of those movies that a person wants to watch every time it comes on. For the longest time we watched it every time it came on one of the movie channels. Even after I bought the DVD we still watched it every time we noticed it was on.
There are some movies that just grab you and refuse to let go. I have a few movies that I can watch every time they come on, this list includes "Gone With The Wind". I can watch it all the time. One of my favorite memories is my mom calling me, because my step-dad told her too, because my movie was on TV. He wanted to make sure I knew it was on. He's been gone 21 months, and I still miss those phone calls. She still calls me to tell me, but it's not the same.

September 11

Nine years later and I still remember where I was, and what I was doing. I heard about the first plane on the radio, I was headed to my sister's house. Not 10 minutes after I got to her house the second plane hit. I remember us all sitting watching the TV, wondering what was next. We all watched as the towers fell. I still cry when I think about it. Please take a moment to remember all of those who lost someone on this very tragic day. My heart goes out to the victims, survivors, and families left to mourn. I WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

As the blog turns

I see that I have been ignoring my lovely blog again. I hate when that happens, but as we all know sometimes things happen. Around here that either means 1) I'm busy, or 2) there is nothing interesting going on.
Sometime in the future there might be exciting news to report. Just not today!

End of class, rearranging the living room, and random stuff

Just finished two more classes for my degree. I am still on track to get my Associate's Degree in March. I am so excited. My loving husband rearranged the living room while I was cooking dinner Sunday. He also crafted a half-wall to go between the kitchen and the living room, so now the short person will keep his behind out of my kitchen. If it wasn't such a pain in the butt I would probably try and talking him into rearranging our bedroom.

Monday, August 16, 2010

Wow. Sorry for the lack of attention.

The last week of class is always kind of hectic.

I have come to a dawning realization after reading some comments left on some of the news website that allow comments. That realization is for the most part, people suck!!! Just because there is no drama in a news story, according to most people this is not news. Just because a story is actually about something other then the President, welfare, or something equally filled with drama people just don't care.
I would rather read a story about someone doing what they want, and not hurting someone. As opposed to reading about the President going to the beach. I really would. I realize that most people do not feel that way, I just want to know when drama became what made something  newsworthy.

Fun at 1:30 am

Since my husband works the hours that he does we are normally very hard pressed to find any extra time to spend together. Happens when one of the parties works 12 hour days, usually six days a week. Such is the life of a car salesman's wife. By this point I am used to it. Don't get me wrong I love when he takes his day off during the week, just doesn't happen every week. With very few exceptions he is off on Sunday, this only happens because the dealership is closed on Sunday. Tonight it's 1:30 am and we are still up. Technically i'm on my computer, and he is playing SingStar on the PlayStation2, but we're together doing it, and having a blast. Just like we used to. We really need to make time to do this more often. I am more in love with the wonderful man I married with each passing day. I love that I love him more with every moment that passes.

My husband

Even though I know he doesn't read my blog I would like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful husband for taking such good care of me since I cut my finger. This includes taking time to insure it is properly cleaned and re-wrapped. I cannot manage to get it re-wrapped by myself. Thanks babe for making sure I am taken care of. I love you!!!!!!!!

Tales of the finger day 2

Ok so today my finger still hurts like the dickens. Really, I am so not surprised about that. Had it not hurt I would probably be worried. Plus, if I would stop smacking things with it I'm sure it would be tons better. I took the bandage off earlier and cleaned it up. Looks nasty (no i'm not sharing pics). Still trying to bleed some. Be glad when it's better, trying to do anything with this bandage, and not being able to bend my finger is annoying to say the least.

Clumsy people should not help move furniture

I am a self admitted klutz. I am aware, and I willingly admit this fact. If there is a way to injure myself I either have done it, or will do it at some point. However, normally I can help my husband move furniture around the house with no issues. Well as of today that record (almost 7 years) is gone. We were moving the old couch out, and I felt it slipping. Instead of dropping it on my foot, I made a grab for it. And proceeded to slice the living daylights out of my finger. I probably could have used a couple of stitches, but it's too late now. I just hope it feels better tomorrow. This hurts. I have decided next time, I am dropping it on my foot. I can get around better limping on one foot, than I can missing a finger.

Life in My Little Corner of the World

Today has been a pretty boring normal day in my little corner of the world. On a plus note I got a giftcard to a certain department store (not the mart of walls) from a certain mom's site that I belong to. Nice to spend someone else's money for a change =)! Spent a lovely day yesterday with my wonderful in-laws, my loving husband, and of course my munchkin. Hoping my loving hubby has a good couple of days at work so he will take Wednesday off. That is the one thing I dislike about car sales. He normally works 12 hour days (sometimes more) 6 days a week. I love spending time with him, and I take the little bit that I get. We've been together almost 7 amazing years, married almost 6 of those years. I love him more with each passing day.

Today

Today would have been my step-dad's birthday. He's been gone 18 months now, and I still find it hard to believe. I still call my mom's house and expect him to answer the phone.

Dad, We love you and miss you!!!!!

Blog Buttons

I am sure all of my lovely readers have noticed all of the blog buttons I have on my blog. I have decided that if I follow the blog, I am going to add the button to my page. If your button is not there yet it will be, trying to get them all on there is time consuming.

Also if someone could leave me a comment and tell me how to make the buttons I would greatly appreciate it.

Sitting here!

I am currently sitting on the couch, with my foot propped on the coffee table. Purple is never a good color for body parts, a person would think that by my age I would know this and avoid it. Not me. I fell going down the stairs at my in-laws yesterday and twisted my ankle. So now my lovely toddler things he can destroy the house, and for the moment I have to confess I'm letting him. Walking is excruciating! On a different note, we traded one of the vehicles last night. So while we still have 3 vehicles, at least one of them is new to us. Let's see how long that lasts. My husband is known to get bored easy with cars.

Nasty weather

After checking the weather it has come to my attention that we are under a Severe Heat Advisory for this afternoon. With the heat index they expect temperatures to be over 110. Needless to say the little one and I will be spending the afternoon indoors. Yesterday my loving husband spent part of his day off hanging insulated curtains, to try and keep it cooler in the house. For the moment it seems to be working. It's 12:30 and is still 70 in the house. This is a definite improvement. Munchkin and I have already made our trip to the store. Now we plan on spending the rest of the day in the house and out of the heat.

School

One year ago I started school at University of Phoenix. Now I have 36 credits towards my Associate's Degree in Business Management. I talked to my Academic Advisor last week who told me "Guess what? You'll have your degree in March.". To me this is fabulous news. I have busted my butt to accomplish what I have. I have maintained a pretty good GPA. I have done this while taking care of my very loving, very supportive, wonderful husband, and my wonderful son. My life just keeps getting better.

I would like to take this time to Thank my husband for being so supportive. In the last year I have bounced more assignments off him than I am sure he would care to admit. Whenever I am stuck with an idea for a project, he always offers suggestions. I could not have done this without his help. I am married to an amazing man, and I am very fortunate that he supports me in everything I undertake. I love him with all my heart, and I am so thankful that he's mine!

Just randomness

So for my followers. Who are you? How did you find my blog? I love comments so please feel free to leave me some.

Not me Monday!

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

This week has been a pretty good one actually. There wasn't much that I didn't do, but there were a couple.

I didn't talk my darling hubby into keeping Chase so I could grocery shop in peace Not Me.

And I didn't make Chase take a nap Saturday just so I could take one too, Not Me.

So come on, open up, tell us what you didn't do this week.

Problem solved

I have finally figured out how to read after I lay the monster down. Normally he falls asleep on the love seat in the living room, then he gets moved to his bed, in his room. When he falls asleep in the living room, that means I have to turn the light off. This presents a problem when I want to read, so I downloaded a free e-reader to my laptop. This way I can read and not bother anyone while I do so. I think for Christmas I want a Nook. My mom got one and she loves it.

Why I love my son's Pediatrician

This morning I called the pediatrician's office to schedule an appointment. I was told to be there Monday at 9 a.m. The receptionist asked if he was sick, and I explained that while he was not sick he had been pulling on one of his ears. I also needed to talk to the pediatrician about the referral back to the Urologist for the surgery on the left side. At 3:15 this afternoon the phone rings. His pediatrician called to make sure everything was ok with him, and when I explained about his ear, I was told to go ahead and bring him in today. Come to find out Mommy was right again and the munchkin has an ear infection. So he's on antibiotics for the next 10 days. Any other pediatrician I have ever dealt with does not take the time to call their patients themselves. As long as we live in this area I will not use another pediatrician.

Life with a toddler

I always thought that putting whatever happened to be in your hand down, BEFORE you rubbed your eyes was just something that people knew. As usual my toddler proved to me this is NOT the case. For reasons known only to him he decided he needed to rub his right eye, with a car in his hand. Luckily he managed to not scratch his eye. Just scratched right underneath it, giving himself a nifty shiner.

As for me, at the moment I am looking outside at sunshine. Now let's see if it manages to last all day. I am so not holding my breath at this point. The weather looked an awful lot like this yesterday, then it rained a bit. After that the sun came back out somewhat. At one point yesterday evening I was seriously considering going to hide in the bathtub with the munchkin. Lots of rain, high winds. Luckily the only damage was ANOTHER limb out of the tree in out front yard. This takes the number of limbs lost to 2 in a weeks, and around 5 since we moved in last month.

Deadliest Catch

I am getting everything done now to prepare for tonights Deadliest Catch. Tonight is the night we bid goodbye to Captain Phil Harris. Phil died February 9,2010 from complications following a stroke. Being the type of person he was, Phil agreed for the cameras from The Discovery  Channel to continue filming. He said basically that no matter the outcome the fans deserved to see the end of the story. My heart continues to go out to his boys Jake and Josh. I know this episode is going to make me cry. I have the last two weeks following the story. The show will not be the same without him.

RIP Captain Phil Harris

Not me Monday!

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to < target="_blank" href="http://www.mycharmingkids.net">her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This weekend I DID NOT laugh hysterically while my son threw a temper tantrum about having to take his nap. Not me.
I also did not find it funny when he peed in the floor, beside the toilet instead of in the toilet. Not me.
Just because we are potty training is no reason to laugh about it. That would be gross. So what have you not done?

Tylenol Issues Another Recall

This time they are recalling Children's MeltAways Ages 2-6.

I really wish they would get this stuff straightened out. I have a toddler. This means occasionally I will need some type of pain/fever relief for the child. Right now there are no products of this type available on the shelves because of all of the recalls. As parents what are we supposed to do for our children?

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

I am enjoying something today that I normally don't get to enjoy. My wonderful husband home during the day, on a Wednesday. For those who don't know us. He works 12 hour days, 6 days a week most of the time. This week he actually decided to take advantage of his day off. I am definitely loving it.

Pet Peeves

I belong to a popular parenting website. I have noticed that some of these women have nothing better to do all day long then bash the women who choose to do things differently than they do. Personally I say whatever works for your kids. I have 3 and let me tell you each one of them are as different as night and day. There are certain things that are honestly none of anyone else's business and here is my list.

1) ERF (Extended Rear Facing)- If someone wants to keep their child turned backwards in their car seat until they graduate from college then so be it. Am I going to do the same? Nope, not hardly. My kids were all turned forward facing just as soon as it was legal. Most especially the little one. Until someone has driven 10+ hours to see their dying parent, with a screaming baby in the backseat, I don't want to hear their crap. Just as soon as we turned his car seat around, when he hit 1, it was like a completely different child.
2) BF/FF - Breastfeeding/Formula Feeding. As long as the child is eating who cares. Life happens, plans change. There are people who have medical issues who can't breastfeed. There are people who end up stressed to the point their milk dries up. Before jumping on someone for not breastfeeding, maybe they should know the story first. Just sayin'.
3) Circumcision - What anyone does with their child's private parts is their business! Honestly this is no one else's business. People do it for religious reasons, and many other different things. If you don't agree with it, DON'T do it. Just don't try and cram your opinion down someone else's throat.
4) Vaccinations- All my kids are fully vaccinated. As their mother, that is my choice. If other people don't want to vaccinate their child more power to them.

I'm sure there is something I am missing. If I think of more I will create another post for them.

Things I have learned since becoming a mom.

Different things I have learned from being a mom.
1) The brand of diapers that will hold twice their weight at night, will leak after a teaspoon of liquid when you are out of diapers and waiting for more to get there.
2) Kids will eat everything you don't want them to, and nothing you do.
3) Chocolate milk is better for a toddler then no milk.
4) Bugs and reptiles that make mommy scream like a girl are fun.
5) The vacuum cleaner is evil. At least according to the small boy child that lives in my house. Apparently potty training is also evil.
6) Potty training is only evil when mommy is actually prepared for it. As long as mom has no pull-ups, no step-stool, or any of these neat things, potty training is great fun.
7) Important papers will vanish if there is a toddler in residence. Whether he eats them, flushes them, or just throws them in the garbage I will never know. All I know is they disappear right when I need them.

I'm sure there are more to add, and as I think of them I will list them. Please feel free to leave your own in the comments.

Being random

I hope all of my readers had a great Fourth of July. Ours was interesting to say the least. Living next to and across from racetracks tends to be slightly (read: very) noisy. Saturday night the dirt track had a race, and a very good firework display. It went on for a good 15 minutes and was loud enough to shake the house. Sunday night the drag strip decided to do their thing. There were people everywhere. Parked on both sides of the street down past our house, not to mention all of the people who were actually paying to park. Jerry said next year we are going to charge people to park in the yard. Their fireworks left A LOT to be desired, frankly they sucked! Everyone was finally gone from over there at like 11:30 pm. Kinda late with a little one, plus Jerry having to be up for work. Dinner Sunday was great. There is nothing like spending a holiday with family. It doesn't matter which holiday, just any holiday.

Happy Fourth of July!!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers a very happy Fourth of July. We are going out to my in-laws for a barbecue. Then we are going into town so the munchkin can see real fireworks for the first time. I am looking forward to it! Should be a wonderful time!

My baby isn't a baby anymore.

As of today I believe we are officially potty training. After coming into the kitchen naked as a jaybird this morning, we asked Chase if he wanted to try and pee in the potty, before I put his diaper on him. He got excited, and took off for the bathroom. Unfortunately his legs are still a bit too short. He did hold it, and aim like he was supposed to, and pee'd down the side of the toilet. Even though technically he did his business in the floor, he gets credit for attempting to use the toilet. Daddy is bringing home Pull-ups this evening. Hard to believe my baby is almost ready to be out of diapers. I think he's going to be the easiest of them all to potty train.

Finally!

They are finally here to fix my air conditioner. They were out here over a week ago, and told me there was a huge hole in my duct work. So they had to do a work order, and estimate, and send them to my landlord. Normally since we are buying this would be our responsibility. However, one of the reasons we agreed to buy this place is because she told Jerry the air was freezing cold. The day we moved in it got up to 90 in the house. To me this is the opposite of cold. So the a/c people came out and checked it, said everything was fine. A week later I called the landlady again, and told her something had to change. She called the a/c people who came out, and again tried to say everything was fine. So she came out to see for herself. Well after she left the a/c tech. showed back up, this was when the hole in the ducting was discovered. I made him crawl under and look, after he tested everything possible, and told us without looking that there was no way it could be the ducting. Amazingly enough it was. So now they are here to fix it. Thank goodness. It's only the beginning of July, we live in South Georgia it's going to get HOT here in the next couple of months.

Migraine

I am in the middle of the worst headache I have had in months. This totally, completely sucks. I am attempting to lay down, this seems to be helping. At times like this I love my laptop. The typing is taking my mind off of it for the time being. Also, currently watching Dinner: Impossible. I love this show. The missions he ends up with are always interesting, and impressively challenging.

Fighting with a sleepy kid

I love (said with sarcasm) the sleep fighting toddler phase. The little angel was up until almost 2 o'clock this morning. Normally not THAT big of a deal. However, he decided to get back up at 8 o'clock. Now mom is exhausted and munchkin is irritable. So thankful it's almost nap time. I think mommy may be taking a nap with the baby today! Maybe. Depends on if the phone stops running so I can.

Here Comes The Storm AGAIN

Just when I thought the chances of us getting a late afternoon storm were down, what do I hear but the rumbling of thunder. Guess that means we're getting another storm. Ah well. I know someone said we needed rain, I just don't think they meant we needed it every single day.
On a different note, looks like my little camper is finally going to give in and take his nap. This comes after me fighting with him to lay down for almost 45 minutes. We are at that point where he does not seem to think he needs a nap, and I beg to differ. When he doesn't take a nap, he's cranky and ready for bed at 7 pm. Since Jerry doesn't get home before 8:30 most nights this does not work.

Thoughts from Mommy Brain

Why is it my darling 2 1/2 year old drops things behind the couch, then expects me to automatically stop whatever it is I am doing to retrieve it? Right now I know there are at least 3 cars back there, and he expects me to fish them out. For right now they can remain right where they are. I'm sure I will get them out of there in a little bit, but for now the only person they are bothering is him!

Complete Randomness

The weather still sucks here in Georgia. It started out as a gorgeous day, and as usual now it's raining and nasty. I had to go out in the pouring rain and rescue our trash can from the middle of the road. So of course I got soaking wet. For some reason my silly dog refuses to seek shelter in the rain, she would rather sit on the porch. No matter how awful the weather gets, she is on the porch. So that is the latest from here.

Life in the south.

We have hit that part of the summer, where for whatever reason it HAS to storm every afternoon/evening. Sometimes the storms are nasty, sometimes it is just a little rain. Yesterday was nasty, I almost went and got in the bathtub with Chase. Last night was awful too, even though we only has like a 30% chance. This afternoon it sounds like it may get rather nasty again! Right now it is raining, and thundering. So much for Jerry cutting the grass, which he was headed out the door to do when the thunder started. 10 minutes later the rain started. I think he was kinda happy about it, who really wants to spend their only day off cutting the grass? I know I don't.

Another recall

Today Kellogg's announced the recall of several of their cereals due to an off-flavor, and a smell coming from the liner of the box. No other products are involved in this recall. According to the company the health risks are low. Please click the link to read the entire press release.
To call the company the number is: 888-801-4163. This is the Kellogg Consumer Response Center, and calls will be taken from 8am - 8pm Eastern Time.

Venting

Michael Jackson has been dead for a year. Really, honestly who cares. He's gone! People seriously need to get over it. Celebrities die all the time, and for the most part the media lets them rest in peace. There are a few exceptions to this rule. 1) Anything bad coming out in the public after they die. 2) Legal issues, either concerning the death, or the estate. I understand in those cases. Other than that they are remembered during one of the award shows with every other celebrity who has died in the same year.
I honestly do not care where Michael Jackson's kids are vacationing on the 1 year anniversary of his death! I find it amazing that given the person he was, everyone is still making such a big deal out of it.
Farrah Fawcett died the SAME day, and barely even got mentioned in the news because everyone was so caught up with Michael Jackson. Give it a rest already.

My baby is growing up.

I knew this day would come, but I didn't think it would get here so fast. Chase will now go sit on the potty when someone asks if he needs to potty. He still hasn't gone in the potty, but at least he will sit on it. Hard to believe he's already 2 and 1/2. Seems like just yesterday he was a newborn. This is my little monster, and me the day he was born.

Happy Father's Day!!!

I would like to take this time to wish all the dad's out there a wonderful Father's Day. Most especially to my wonderful, incredible, awesome husband. I also want to add something I found on Facebook in memory of both my dads.

Roses grow in Heaven, Lord, pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Daddy's arms & tell him they're from me. Tell him that I love & miss him & when he turns to smile, place a kiss upon his cheek & hold him for a while. Because remembering him is easy.. I do it every day. There's an ache within my heart that will never go away. I LOVE AND MISS YOU DAD, SO Much ..........♥♥ ♥ ♥

I miss you both so much! I think of you both on a daily basis! I love you both!!!!

Why Won't This Incredibly Sleepy Child Sleep??

It is 10:39 PM. Chase has been up since 8:40 AM with NO nap! I know he's tired. He's fighting it so hard, and I really wish he would give it up already. I always have so much fun trying to do homework with him being cranky. Ranks right up there with having a tooth pulled, without Novacaine.

Hell's Kitchen Episode #3

Started to get mad looked like my night of TV viewing was going to be messed up. Imagine my surprise when I flipped to FOX for Hell's Kitchen only to see the president was going to speak. Definitely irritated me. I'm glad his message only lasted 20 minutes, so that wasn't bad. Then it was made much better when I learned tonight is a 2 hour Hell's Kitchen. That definitely made up for it being 20 minutes late starting. If nothing else I can catch it on Hulu tomorrow if anything is missing.

Karma

One of these days I seriously hope the 2 1/2 year old will grasp the concept of karma. Last night should have been his first tip off, but I doubt it will be that easy. He was attempting to throw his soccer ball onto the counter in my kitchen. He missed the counter top, and got the edge of the counter instead. This led to him smacking himself in the center of his forehead with the soccer ball. The moral of this story: Mommy knows best. After being told not to do it, and doing it anyway he punished himself.

Judge Doubles Lohan's Bail After Bracelet Violation

It's amazing. Because she is a celebrity the judge only doubled her fine. Had she been a normal person her butt would have gone to jail for the violation. How is that fair to anyone. Apparently Lindsey Lohan figured that was exactly what was going to happen. She violated the conditions of her release. That was her call, and her stupidity. She should have to face to consequences like a normal person.

Lack of internet

Ok it has come to my attention, that blogging is hard work when you have no internet. I hate moving with a passion. I just got lovely news. I will have my cable and internet today which is June 8, I can live with that. However, I will not have phone until the 11th. I swear I hate Mediacom. An intelligent person would think since the service was being transferred from one house to the other, that all of the service would be transferred together, as I was just informed not so much. What a load of crap. At least I can send texts to people through my YIM or I would be completely without communication. Now I guess I take my wonderful hubby up on the use of his cell phone until they get out here to hook up my phone.
Well on a happy note, I found out from the Mediacom tech that for whatever reason, I will actually get to keep my phone. However, they will still be out sometime Friday to do something to it.

Gotta love moving.

We sure picked a rotten weekend to move. The thunderstorm I could have lived with. That just means waiting for it to quit. Not a big deal. Then the power went out, I admit that part sucked. Now I am still waiting for the power to come back on. I have dishes and laundry that need to be done, and I can’t accomplish either of those little jobs with no power. If I at least had hot water, I could do the dishes. I guess that’s the downside to an electric hot water heater. On the plus side at least the little munchkin is with Nanny and Papa, which means he’s not stuck up my butt, so at least I am getting something accomplished. On a brighter note, since I am taking this break to try and cool off, at least my blog post will be done for tonight!

We are officially moving.

Not very far, but moving none the less. I am looking forward to it. The munchkin will be with my wonderful mother-in-law and father-in-law tomorrow while I try and see exactly how much I can get done. Then Sunday Jerry and I will move the furniture with the little one under foot. Should be interesting. Push comes to shove, and I get him to sit in his carseat and watch cartoons. For some reason he thinks being in the carseat is great, as long as he's not actually in the car. Actually he's not that bad about being in the car now, when he was younger it was war. However, the day we turned his carseat forward facing was better for all of us. Will post pictures as soon as I get off my lazy butt and download them!!! LOL :)

McDonald's Recalls "Shrek" glasses

This morning McDonald's has issued a recall for 12 million of the glasses they have been using to promote the release of the latest and supposedly final installment of the "Shrek" films. Apparently these glasses have Cadmium in the paint. PLEASE do not let children drink out of these glasses. According to the article "We believe the Shrek glassware is safe for consumer use," Whitman said. "However, again to ensure that our customers receive safe products from us, we made the decision to stop selling them and voluntarily recall these products effective immediately." From what I am reading in the article, the cadmium can get on the hands while the glass is being used, then can enter the body if the hands are not washed after using the glass. Personally, I do not wash my hands every single time I get a drink out of my glass, I don't know anyone who does. So I guess in that respect it could be a problem.

We bought one of the glasses. Am I seriously going to worry about the recall? Nope. With any of the glasses like that, they are bought strictly as decoration. My glass "Puss in Boots" is sitting on top of the entertainment center. I know beyond any reasonable shadow of a doubt, the glass will never be used for anything other than pencils, and things like that.

My Wonderful Husband.

Occasionally I have to take time out to remember how incredibly blessed I am. I know I am an incredibly lucky young woman. Being married to your best-friend is a great thing. With my wonderful husband I know I can be myself, and he will still love me no matter what. Sometimes a girl just needs to know these things. I also know that no matter how bad my day was, it will get better as soon as he walks in the door. Or he can call and perk my day up. I don't normally have bad days, but anyone with a toddler will know what I mean. :) Terrible 2's moved in here when Chase was 18 months old, now he's 29 months old. I assume before much longer the terrible 2's will move out. I'm going to hope around December when he turns 3. Back to the topic at hand. My wonderful, loving, husband. We've been together for over 6 years. Will be 7 years in November, married for 6 the same month. Life just keeps getting better. I fall more in love with him with each passing day. He is the love of my life.

Blog Changes

Making changes to the blog. If you have suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments.

Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Time for another book review.

This book was unbelievable. A real page turner from the time I picked it up, until the time I finished it. I would recommend this book and this author to anyone.

Hollywood Loses another Great.

RIP Rue McClanahan. It breaks my heart to know that Hollywood has had so many losses in the past few weeks. I love catching old reruns of "The Golden Girls". Always makes me laugh. My heart goes out to the family and friends of this very gifted person.

Episode 1 of Hell's Kitchen New Season

This looks to be an interesting season. Chef Ramsey made a promise last night that the chefs would complete the first night dinner service. I was amazed that part of the chefs actually managed to pull it off. Even if Chef did have to send part of each team back to the dorms.

When it came time to send someone home. Stacy was sent packing. Would not have been my choice, but I think it will work out. I have a feeling Fran will be the next woman to go home. My vote is Salvatore will be the first man to leave. Can't wait until Tuesday to see what happens next.

Hell's Kitchen

Season Premier Tonight!!! 8 PM EST on FOX. I am so ready for this. There are times I wish this show had two seasons a year. However, it gives me something to look forward to at the start of the summer.

Using the Potty, With A Toddler's Help!

Trying to potty with my 29 month olds help is almost like trying to use the auto-flush toilets in stores. The potty flushes when he thinks it needs to, whether I agree or not. Nothing in this world like your butt getting a "shower" while the rest of you remains dry. Luckily, I have managed to get somewhat used to this sensation. I have tried going potty without him, but somehow he always manages to find me!! :)

Rude people

Westboro Baptist Church. These people give a whole new meaning to rude, and disrespectful. These are the people who think it's okay to protest at military funerals. These people need to get a grip, or get a life, and get over themselves. Protesting military funerals is not going to stop joining the military. Protesting at Ronnie James Dio's memorial service is not going to accomplish anything, other than make a lot of people mad. Just because he was in Black Sabbath does not mean he was into devil worshiping. People need to get off their high horses.

Let these people rest in peace. I hate seeing these people protesting at military funerals. These people give their lives to protect us, and the country we live in. Makes me sick that people can disrespect them like that.

Dennis Hopper had died at 74!

Hollywood must say goodbye today to a true star. Dennis Hopper has passed away at 74 from Prostate Cancer. RIP Dennis Hopper.

New Season of Hell's Kitchen Starts 6/1/2010!

I am so ready for this. I love any and all things Gordon Ramsey. I have watched Hell's Kitchen from Season 1. I watch all of his shows. Even those on BBC. Gordon Ramsey's The "F" Word is cool. Kitchen Nightmares is great, but gross for the most part.

Tuesday night will find us in front of the TV, waiting to see how long it will be in the show before he cusses at someone. With Chef Ramsey it's not "IF" he will cuss. It is most definitely "WHEN".

Time for a book review!!!!

I am almost done with Kindred in Death, by J. D. Robb. For those of my readers who are unfamiliar with her. J.D. Robb is the pen-name for the one, and only Nora Roberts. The "In Death" series is one of the most well thought out, put together series of books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I enjoy these books enough, that I have even recommended them to my husband. Now we argue over who gets to read the new one first. Normally, I let him win. Now on to the book.

As usual when I pick up one of these books this one was a page turner. It is exciting to see what Lieutenant Eve Dallas, and her team are going to get into this time. With help from Roarke, her husband, and civilian consultant this book is amazing from start to finish. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Hollywood loses another actor!

Gary Coleman had passed at 42, from a brain hemorrhage. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Migraines

This is just to say that migraines suck!! I suppose by now I should be used to them, doesn't mean I have to like them. Believe me when I say I don't. I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of this one and nothing seems to be helping. Plus Chase went to sleep at 7:30pm, so I know he will be up later and wired for sound! However the good thing to that is he will let me sleep late tomorrow, which is never a bad thing.

Puppy.

It has come to my attention that my son's puppy was apparently dropped on her head at least once as a smaller puppy! For some reason this dog thinks the sun rises and sets in my son's butt!! He plays a little rough with her, and he shrieks, you know being a typical toddler. Well she gets tired of him and goes to mind her own business. After about 5 minutes if he has not found her, she goes looking for him. Now me personally, if I am being bothered enough to go hide, I am not going to look for my tormentor. Not this dog, she has to be right there with him. It is nice to see how they have bonded though. At least when he's not jealous that is!

My hard working hubby!!

I just wanted to make this post to show off my husband's accomplishment. As my readers know we spent 5 days in Destin, FL., thanks to my husband's company. He earned the trip by winning a contest his company held. I just wanted to take a minute to brag about the great guy I married, and show off his certificate!!!

Back from Vacation

The trip was absolutely amazing. We stayed at the Hilton in Sandestin, FL. It was wonderful. We met some truly wonderful people. I hope we have the opportunity to do it again someday. I will have to add pictures later. Also, we had family come spend the better part of Sunday with us.

Mother's Day.

I got to spend Mother's Day, with some very special people in my life. My husband, son, and my in-laws. We all had a really great day. My hubby and father-in-law worked on 2 of their vehicles, and 1 of ours. So now I have ice cold air conditioning in my Bravada.

Now trying to get some of the little stuff done before we go out of town. Also, trying to make sure Chase has everything he will need for his trip to Nanny and Papa's.

I called the Spa earlier, and went ahead and made the appointment for my massage. I am so looking forward to that, I've never had a massage before.

Homemade CheeseSteak Sandwiches

Tonight we decided to try something new. We made homemade CheeseSteak sandwiches. Some round steak, bell-peppers, onions, little spice, Velveeta cheese, and milk. Cook steak, bell-peppers, and onion. Warm up Velveeta with milk. Stir until creamy. Put sandwich rolls on plate, top with steak, veggies, and pour cheese on top. Enjoy. We all enjoyed it very much.

Iron Man 2

So we went and saw this movie last night for my hubby's birthday. It was an awesome movie. Chase was wonderfully behaved through the entire movie. He fell asleep about 20 minutes before the end of it. Which turned out to not be a good thing, since he was up until almost 1am. At least he was good for the movie though.

Now I have to take a minute to vent about a pet peeve. Today my peeve is people saving seats at a movie theater. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand saving them if someone goes to get popcorn, or goes to the bathroom. The people I mean are the people who try to save seats for people who are not at the theater. If you bought the person a ticket, by all means save them a seat. However, if you did not buy them a ticket, they didn't buy a ticket early and go somewhere, or things of this nature then they DO NOT deserve a seat. Those seats are for people who have actually purchased tickets. We ran into this problem last night, and right before the movie started they got a text from the people who were supposed to be there saying "Oh don't worry about us, they are SOLD OUT!!! People like that just irritate me!!!! Thanks for letting me vent.

Swiffer Wet Jet

We just got one, and I absolutely love it. It got spots off my kitchen floor with no effort whatsoever. It also dries very quickly, which is important with a toddler. He loves to try and run across the floor right after I mop. Kids gotta love them!!

Ready for Vacation!!!

This time next week Jerry and I will be headed for sunny Destin, Florida. My loving husband busted his butt last month to win this trip! I am so excited. Chase will be spending from Wednesday night (5/12) to Monday evening with my wonderful in-laws. I know they will have a blast. I will try not to make myself insane missing him, no promises though. In almost 29 months I have been without him overnight once. So definitely going to take some getting used to. I do think the trip will be great though. Give Jerry and I a chance to spend sometime together!
I will post pictures when we get home, and I will try to be a better blogger and keep everyone posted while we are gone!

Must give a shout out to my sister and my best-friend. My sister Ronni, for giving me the nickname Suniki 20 years ago. My best-friend Beth, for suggesting it as the name for my soup!! Thanks Ladies, I love you!

RIP Corey Haim!

It is so sad to see that our generation has lost another celebrity to drugs. The Lost Boys was always one of my favorite movies. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

ETA: Coroner's reports are out. Toxicology test results are back. Corey Haim died of Natural Causes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Google Chrome!

I would like to take this time to thank my brother for pointing me in the direction of Google Chrome. For the longest time I have noticed that Internet Explorer tends to run like junk most of the time. I downloaded Chrome tonight and in under a minute I was surfing the internet with speeds that I forgot existed. Pages are actually loading like they are supposed to.

This product definitely gets my recommendation, and I will be telling everyone I know about it.

Getting Started

I decided to start this blog as a reminder of my youngest son being little. Anyone who has a toddler or small child will understand. They are only little once, and not for very long. I see changes everyday as he gets bigger, and learns more about his surroundings. He's 2 now, and talking more, getting into everything.
He has also figured out the easiest way to get a bite of chocolate, and my attention at the same time is to try to bite off the tip of my thumb with the candy. I have to remember to keep my fingers out of the way. This is not the first time this has happened.
He loves to talk on the phone. Luckily we know people who do not mind having a conversation with a 2 year old.
More later.
